Purchasing Manager

Min. 5 years in procurement, planning or related field. Commercial print purchasing/production exp. with CPM preferred. Reports to Controller, manages staff of 2.

You’ll lead our Purchasing team, with primary responsibilities including:

• Producing annual budget for print/production and direct mail postage. Track, monitor and report exceptions to budget for the areas of print, direct mail postage, operating supplies and freight. Investigate variances, improve standard practices and correct processes when appropriate

• Recommending and researching alternate sources of supply

• Negotiating price and delivery of all purchased components to assure best total cost

• Managing the buying and production of all printed materials; maintaining a close working relationship with Creative Services Manager

• Analyzing inventory levels of consumables to define and administer purchasing plans and inventory control of all purchased components and finished goods

• Participating on new product introduction teams to ensure the smooth transition from concept phase to manufacturing

• Purchasing capital equipment

• Managing off-site storage

• Controlling waste and spoilage

 

Qualified Applicants will have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or equivalent experience

• A minimum of 5 years experience working in procurement, planning or related experience, working with limited supervision

• Minimum of two years supervising employees, with proven ability to lead others

• Four to six years commercial print purchasing and production experience is highly desirable

• Some specialized courses in Purchasing management or CPM certification preferred

• Technologically competent in MS Office (including intermediate Excel), Great Plains Dynamics or comparable accounting software

• Possess excellent organizational, management, interpersonal/relationship, and oral/written communication skills
